April 16, 2014, was a tough day for four friends when they went fishing on Huff’s boat near South Bass Island on Lake Erie. According to reports, Andy Rose, Bryan Huff, Paige Widmer, and Amy Santus went to Lake Erie to enjoy the day but never return alive. Throughout the day, they sent their pictures and videos to their family. Around 6 pm they talked to their family and inform them that they were coming back before dusk. The group’s truck and trailer found empty at the marina.
About 2 am, a family member informed US Coast guards about their missing. An immediate rescue operation started to search. Shortly after 6:30 am, on April 17, the guards found an empty Huff’s 21-foot Tracker Tundra. Around 11 am, the bodies of Santus and Widmer were recovered at shoals of Locust Point but Andy and Bryan were still missing.
Huff’s body was found after three weeks of drowning on May 6 while Andy’s body was found on May 8 at Green Cove Subdivision, just east of Turtle Point Marina.
