Ben Coffeen at DuSable Lake Shore Drive

Ben Coffeen was just in his 20s when he lost his life in Lake Michigan, near DuSable Lake Shore Drive and Randolph Street.

The Chicago Fire Department was called to the scene at about 12:45 pm for a person who went missing.

Ben’s parents said their son was on the boat with a group of college students who were returning home for their fall break.

Ben went missing when he jumped off the boat while it was still moving.

The Chicago Fire Department initiated their search with helicopter and divers near DuSable Lake Shore Drive to locate Ben.

But he was not seen for several days. On October 11, his body was located near Navy Pier around 10 am.

His drowning was under investigation.
