Christian Mattis at Lake Forest Harbor

Christian Mattis was 43 years old when he lost his life in Lake Michigan after falling from his 15-foot catamaran-style sailboat on Sunday.

His family called authorities when he failed to meet them at 2 pm at the boat launch.

Fire authorities initiated the search, and later they found his catamaran with the help of drones with no sign of Christian.

They suspended the rescue efforts at approximately 7:30 pm due to dangerous water conditions, with waves reaching 4-6 feet high.

His body was found almost after a month on Nov. 8, about 125 miles away from where he was last seen.

He was a father of 2 boys and was dearly missed by everyone.
