Deanna Melvin was just 20 years old when she drowned in Lake Ontario near Chimney Bluffs State Park.
The emergency responders received the call around 2 p.m. saying that 2 people were in distress.
The bystanders on the shore saved a 28-year-old male with the help of life jackets while Deanna went underwater.
The Dive teams with the help of an aviation helicopter and United States Coast Guards conducted a vast search and were finally able to locate Deanna 15-20 yards away from the shore.
The initial report says that Deanna was on a pontoon boat with 6 other people when she and the other man went swimming.
The waves were 1 to 2 feet high and maybe that contributed to both of them being in distress.
In this incident, the man after being checked at Strong Memorial Hospital was doing fine while Deanna lost her life.
