Eric Graff was 39 years old when he was drowned in Lake Michigan during a powerboat race. According to the authorities, Graff jumped into the water without a life jacket and tried to swim a rope with friends that were on another boat so they could be connected and can enjoy the Great Lakes Grand Prix together. Graff yelled for help and then went under surface. He was pulled to the surface by a passenger and started performing CPR. He was loaded on a US Coast guard vessel and transported to the hospital. He had a pulse when he arrived at the hospital but never gain consciousness. He died on Friday.
