George D. Vitetta was 65 years old when he drowned in Lake Ontario while swimming with his family. The Tragic incident happens when George who was on the lake with his grandchildren, saw that Ella who was just 5 years old fell from the Sandbar and began drifting away.
Kathy George’s Wife, yelled at her to get back but she couldn’t as she was caught in strong underwater current. Kathy reached her but she also fell into the water and herself caught in the current. The couple’s 8-year-old grandson also fell into the water and drift away.
George jumped into the water and manages to pull back his wife and grandchildren back to the sandbar before a wave overcome him and he disappears into the water. A massive search was started by US Coast guards with State Police and many local units in the area of North Sandy Pond Bay to find George.
A few hours later, George’s body was found by the dive team in the water. His death is marked as accidental drowning.
