Hamdi Hassam at McKinley Marina

Hamdi Hassam was a teenage girl, just 16 years old when she lost her life in Lake Michigan near McKinley Marina. She was spotted about 30-40 feet outside the breakwater around 3:30 pm. The temperature at that time was 40 degrees cold which is dangerously cold and the rescue crews did not know how she ended up there. Her body was pulled by the emergency responders and she was given CPR for 2 hours before she was pronounced dead.
