Henry J. Stout at Huron Pier

Henry J. Stout was only 19 years old when he was drowned in Lake Erie while trying to swim from Huron Pier towards a nearby lighthouse. He was likely to be knocked off by the wave and fell inside the water on Saturday at around 7 pm. The Huron Fire Department and the US Coast guard both tried to save him but the conditions were extremely rough at that time with 6 to 8 feet of waves. Just before 5 pm, the crew’s found Henry’s body in the same place where he was knocked inside the water. He was taken out of the water and pronounced dead at the scene.
