Onyx Torres at Portage Lakefront and Riverwalk

Onyx Torres was just a 7-year-old child when he lost his life in a tragic incident that happened near Portage Lakefront and Riverwalk.

Torres was swimming waist-deep when he went into the deeper area and the strong current just pulled him away.

A family member tried to save his life but it was too late.

The call came to 911 at about 4:50 pm and Torres was found about 20 minutes late near Ogden Dunes.

He was taken to Northwest Health-Portage hospital, where he died.

Torres was visiting his grandparents for the weekend in a vacation house in Northwest Indiana.
