Rayan Mohammed at Miller Beach

Rayan Mohammed was 18 years old when he lost his life while swimming at Lake Michigan near Miller Beach.

Gary Police were notified at about 2:40 p.m. that a swimmer had gone missing near the beach in the area of Lakeshore Drive and Sullivan Street.

Multiple agencies and dive teams were called to the scene and they were able to find Rayan in just 3 quarters of a mile where he was last seen.

He was taken out of the water at about 6 p.m. and was pronounced dead at the scene.
