Richard Drake (67) and Arthur Walker (71) were drowned in Lake Michigan around 1:15 pm. Richard and Arthur were friends for decades as on that day they went camping in Van Buren County’s Covert Township when both decided to go swimming in Lake Michigan, which had a strong undertow that day. According to the Police, the undertow and rough water are the cause of both men drowning. Rescues perform CPR on both men before transporting them to South Haven hospital where they were pronounced dead. According to Nancy Walker, the wife of Arthur said that there were waves on the lake but apparently they were not seen to be rough as they have seen over the years on Lake Michigan. But in a blink of an eye, they were gone.
