Richard Woodall was 80 years old when he went fishing on Lake Ontario with his nephew, Alan W. Woodall. They were overcome by high waves causing their boat to be broken and elder Richard was thrown in the lake. According to the police, no man was wearing a life jacket at the time of the accident. Deputies say that waves were 4-8 feet high, when water starts to fill their boat, the young Alan grabbed the life jacket and called 911 for help. He was later pulled by nearby neighbors and Belleville Fire Department and treated for water exposure to the shore. Shortly at 2 pm, Richard’s body was pulled from the lake and immediately taken to Cleveland Funeral Home where he was pronounced dead.
