The accident happened around 5 p.m. when David went into the water and started struggling.
His friend tried to help him but he also started to struggle.
He was brought back to the shore by the firefighter but David went underwater and was pronounced dead at around 6 pm.
Aiden R. Walden, a teen just 16 years old drowned in Lake Erie near Woodlawn Beach State Park.
Police said that they were called to the scene at about 5:30 pm when two boys entered the water and Aiden was unable to keep his head above water.
Other beachgoers assisted in removing him from the water and immediately began life-saving measures.
He was then transported to South Buffalo Mercy Hospital by Woodlawn Volunteer Fire Company where he was pronounced dead.
